Our mission:

To empower Gypsy, Romany and Traveller communities through advocacy, practical support, education, cultural pride, community development and meaningful participation.

We will work alongside individuals, families and communities to challenge discrimination, reduce inequalities and improve outcomes while ensuring that Gypsy, Roma and Traveller voices remain at the centre of decision-making.

2026

Established Year

The Roots & Roads CIC was envisioned in 2026 by Irish Traveller Selina Hodgson, and is dedicated to creating meaningful community social services and educational opportunities. Selina is joined by fellow proposed Director Lulu Smith, a proud member of the Romany community and a passionate advocate and champion for Gypsy, Romany and Traveller (GRT) communities. Lulu brings valuable experience in delivering training to professionals on issues affecting the communities, alongside a strong commitment to supporting and empowering community members and promoting greater understanding, inclusion and equality.
